What We Did Together
CMYK may be a small firm, but their capacity for creativity and the scope of work they undertake on projects for some of the country's best known retailers as their promotion design specialists, knows no bounds.
Our first project with CMYK was to write the copy for their new ten-page website.
Completion of our Brief Development Form helps us to identify a client's brand, peers and competitors, messages and preferences. But on this project, as with many that we work on, the client required us to start with a fairly blank canvas. We provided guidance on tone of voice blueprinting, brand message development and content structure before we even started to consider what to write for them.
One of the biggest challenges of this copywriting project turned out to be scheduling time with the clients because they were just so busy - a testament to the quality of, and demand for their work.
Working in close collaboration with Charlie and his team we managed to gain a clear understanding of the tone of voice the website copy should revolve around, and to create the copy they were looking for to complement their new site design.
Since the completion of the main body of their website copy we have focused on two related areas of content for them:
Case Studies/Customer Stories. In our initial client meeting with CMYK I mentioned the importance of case studies for their business - content that both will act as an aid to search engine optimisation (visibility with search engines such as Google), and to evidence the quality of their work. We have produced a number of these for them and plans are afoot to write more on a regular basis.
Testimonial Gathering and Development. This service is often provided alongside our case study writing service because a good testimonial is essential for validating your customer story and for building additional trust with the readers of your site. Instead of asking clients to supply you with their testimonials, which, despite their best intentions, often don't materialise, we arrange a phone call to discuss their working relationship with you. From the information we gather we create a succinct and impactful testimonial optimised for trust building and focused on a clear benefit the offered by CMYK. We then gain approval for our draft before adding it to the case study. Quick, simple and with laser-focused results.
We continue to be CMYK's content strategists and copywriters, available as and when needed to write for the next customer story to write for them.

How It All Started
In July 2016, one of our web developer partners asked us to have a chat with a client of theirs. The website they were developing for their client was almost ready, but efforts to create the copy to fill it with seemed to have stalled, due to the client's lack of time to invest in this vital stage in the evolution of their business. Something was needed to keep the project on track and avoid stagnation, so we called them and thus started an exciting working relationship with CMYK Retail Solutions.
